Our Philosophy at Discovery Learning Center...

At Discovery Learning Center we are interested in the whole child...in his development socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically and spiritually. Our well rounded program offers art activities, music, story telling, number and language readiness, dramatic play, science, social studies, interest centers and culinary art. We develop small muscle coordination through the use of our many manipulative materials. Our well shaded outdoor play area is not only used to develop large muscles, but also to have fun. Unlike most schools today, Discovery strives to assist the parent in developing strong Christian values. Your children are very special and our goal is to help build self esteem in each child and love for God. We also stress honesty and responsibility at Discovery Learning Center.

Full and Half-Day Programs for Preschoolers

(6 weeks to 5 year olds)

2, 3 or 5 days per week

Extended care for Kindergarten through 3rd grade, with transportation to some schools.

Staff

Our teachers meet the state requirements and are trained and experienced in the field of Early Childhood Education. Our teachers, aides and counselors are carefully chosen, mature adults who are experienced at working with young children.

Discipline

We believe that a good learning situation cannot exist without a disciplined environment. We teach our children respect for other people, respect for property and good safety habits. We supervise your children constantly, and use positive reinforcement to remind them of school rules when necessary. Children who disobey the rules frequently are temporarily isolated from the rest of the group. Weapons or toys of violent nature are not allowed at Discovery Learning Center.

Class Placement

Discovery Learning Center provides specially equipped, self-contained classrooms. Children are place in one of these classes based on age and maturity and moved into older groups when they are ready and class space is available. The younger children have their own carefully designed playground. The older children share our larger stimulating playground. Both playgrounds provide lots of shade to protect your child's sensitive skin.
